The name “Pastorello”, Don Leonardo’s panettone, comes from a pastoral work that the composer wrote for the Benedictine nuns of San Severo (FG) in the first half of the 18th century, while the paper that covers the panettone is part of a Mass written by Don Leonardo in 1733. Leonardo Leo (1694-1744) was born in S. Vito dei N.nni and was one of the most important composers, a pillar of what would be called the Neapolitan school of the 18th century. J.J. Rousseau in his Dictionnaire de Musique of 1768 under the entry GENIE, writes: “Do you want to know if some spark of this devouring fire animates you? Run, fly to Naples to listen to the masterpieces of Leo, Durante, Jommelli, Pergolesi.” The panettone is soft, moist, delicate and is embellished with pieces of semi-candied figs. The almond icing crowns the final “chord” of the composition. A product of our land made with high quality ingredients. Here gastronomy and musical culture meet and the symphony produced leads us into an extremely refined world.
